Occupational Therapy (OT)

OT is the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations, of individuals, groups or communities. OT assists patients with physical disabilities to grow and become as independent and secure as possible in their homes. It attains this through allowing patients to maximize their individual capability by recommending tools as well as adaptations to their home.

Who Can Utilize this Service?

Our occupational therapy service is available to patients of all ages and groups who:
  • Experience difficulties functioning with daily activities
  • Have a substantial and permanent disability
  • Meet eligibility criteria for people who are looking for help from social services
Following an evaluation of need by a social worker, the individual might be referred to occupational therapy. Our expert team of occupational therapists will evaluate the capabilities of the patient to perform daily tasks. We will assist with how to uphold and amplify a patient’s independence to make them more secure at home.
The occupational therapist will provide the patient with an action summary detailing how goals can be achieved. If a patient’s home is not suitable to meet their long-term needs, advice and guidance can be given to help them move to a more suitable property. Our Occupational Therapists are committed to helping individuals get their function and independence back. Through understanding what each patient’s personal needs and objectives are, we will assist in restoring their quality of life.
